It was cold and snowy as we arrived Bologna March 1st, but not for long. As we drove south towards Lucca and our wonderful country house in the Tuscan hills, the snow was only to be seen in the far distance. In front of us where a green garden with olive trees, lavender, bees and flowers eager to burst.

The house was so cosy and charming with all the homy details that you wish for after a long travel. Tuscan yellow bedsheets with grandma patterns, oilskin table cloths, purple candles and naked burlesque women neatly framed in all the bedrooms. We had longed for the countryside and we got what we wished for. Rolling, green hills, the terracotta colored houses, the flower pots filled with pink potion, windy roads and Italian farmers in their panda cars equipped with garden scissors at least one barking dog and a smiling wife with a brown skirt, not a full row of teeth and a big bum.

The area around the house was just a stroll in wonderland. My morning walks went up all the hills and then through the forest, saying good morning to the horses on the hill. Teasing the barking dogs behind the fence. Smiling at the busy farmers. Storing the loud bird singing, the view and the hardworking spring blowing green life into the landscape on my hard disc. Stopping for some meditation and yoga poses on a hill, cuddling with the dogs at my favorite farm and coming home to the most adorable husband who made the best breakfast plus two happy bohemian kids with messy hair and excited voices.

The Carnival in Viereggio was a colour feast. Huge installations with smoke, sound and happiness. Couples in their best age had princesses and cowboys in strollers while the dads had no problem dressing up as a cute panda bear or a fuzzy light blue bear and the mother in a pink rabbit outfit.

The atmosphere is very different from Sicily. More gentle, proper, private.

We had lots of friends come and see us in our house. We celebrated uncle Christian 40th B-day, Christine had kept it a surprise for weeks. We made chocolate heaven, sang, jumped in the puddles and blew at least forty balloons. The Bratsberg's arrived shortly after and I was inspired by Ingrid's great water consume. The kids where so happy to have friends to play with. The last week Helene, Kaj and the boys came. We had a great time. We had a day hike in the hills one day, we rode horses in Bagni di Lucca with Rose and we played and ate gelato in Lucca.

Thank you Tuscany for revealing all your beauty, hidden treasures, fresh smell, great tasting food, and happy people.
